What you need to know

UC offers a range of health plan options to Medicare-eligible employees and retirees and their eligible family members.

All UC Medicare Supplement PPO plans protect your and your family’s health and include behavioral health coverage and virtual care options. The difference among them comes down to things like how much you pay when you get care, how much you pay in premiums, and whether prescription drug coverage is included.

The Medicare Supplement PPO plans are administered by Anthem Blue Cross. With a Medicare supplement plan, your Medicare coverage is your primary insurance and your UC coverage is secondary. When you have a Medicare-covered expense, Medicare first pays its share of the cost. Then the UC plan pays a portion, or all, of the remaining cost based on the plan benefit and the Medicare-approved amount for that service. Medicare determines what is covered and is medically necessary. Visit medicare.gov for details.

Benefits Beyond Medicare offers an extension of Medicare coverage for some services that the UC plan covers when Medicare A or B either does not cover at all (such as acupuncture, hearing aids and behavioral health services) or when Medicare limits have been reached.
